Dana was also famous for her late-80's music fanzine E.M.S.. The original title was "Eat My Shit" but she ran into trouble with the Post Office who refused to deliver it with that title (hence the shortened name). Not only was it a good source for NC music happenings, but it also had a good bit of her views and thoughts. D.I.Y. at its finest!

Actually, Lee Johnson/Eugenia Lee was the one responsible for Eat My Shit.

Dana went on to form Dish with Sara Bell (Angels of Epistemology, later Shark Quest), Jerry Kee (Duck-Kee Studios) and Bo Taylor (8 or 9 Feet/Motorolla/caster), who put out one great album on Interscope. A few years later she formed a band with her sister Karen & put out a gorgeous CD on Ryko.

Lee Johnson, on the other hand, formed a metal band called Detura in Raleigh in the early 90s, and then I lost track of her, although all three members of Blackgirls participated in a reunion show at the Bickett Gallery in Raleigh a couple of years ago.

As of a few years ago, Hollis Brown was still playing electric violin with the prog band Ozone Quartet, which she started (under the original name Cloud Nine) back in '92 or so.
