The Othermothers - 88 Seconds (I Wanna Go To The Rodeo)
from the ep "No Place Like Home"

A great band from Greensboro NC. This song is about the famous run-in between right-wing extremists and left-wing extremists in a gun battle in Greensboro, North Carolina. Oddly enough the english synthpop band OMD wrote a song about the very same thing. I much prefer The Othermothers take.

Michael, Thanks for your excellent web site. Bus Stop/Grinch, timely/ Hollidays, thank you again. The cut Rodeo fetured here was recorded at Reflections studios in Cahrlotte NC., was featured on The Othermothers "No Place Like Home" EP. The record was released by a British independent label "Making Waves". They seemed to be very interested in the song. What was the facination the Brits had with the Nazi/Clan shoot out in Greensboro? I hope they recocile the whole thing. People need too get along in this world. Thank you so much for the Naked Ramblers, I loved that band, fast as hell.

Thanks Tommy,

You did exactly what I was hoping would happen. I just had a cassette that said Othermothers on it, I wasn't sure where or for what it was recorded so thank you for the information.

Cheers,
Michael

Tommy,

In the early 90s I worked with Steve King at the News & Observer. Do you have any idea on how I can contact him? Nothing important to say to him, but I'd like to say hello.

Thanks,

David Shaw

The UK Label "Making Waves" which put out The Othermothes EP "No Place
Like Home" is the same label that
released "Comboland".
The Othermothers Ep was released several months before Comboland.
The label Making Waves and Demon
Records became interested in NC
music as a result of Godfrey Cheshires trip to England with the "comboland tapes". The Othermothers scored an Ep with Making Waves and The Connells and Don Dixon with Demon. All 3 bands were on The Comboland compulation.
